Tavaziva Male was Tavaziva’s all male youth dance company for young men aged 13 to 19. This project was generously supported by Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, making it a free project to attend. Inspired by Bawren’s own experiences growing up in Zimbabwe and his passion for providing dance training and opportunity for young men, Tavaziva Male offered accessible, high quality dance training to young people who may not have ordinarily had access to it. The aim was to encourage more boys to dance, break down perceptual barriers which discourage boys from becoming involved in dance and addressed the lack of male dancers training within the dance sector, providing a stepping stone to national dance agencies and conservatoires for further training.
Workshops, classes, projects and performance opportunities took place in various locations in North London and provided specific training in our signature mix of Ballet, Contemporary, and African.
Tavaziva Male performed at Lift Off Dance Festival in Southhill Park, Bracknell, Haringey Arts Festival and UDance, plus on the stages of The Place, Rich Mix and Bernie Grant Arts Centre to name a few.
