Greed is coming!

Tavaziva Dance will be on the road again in 2025 with Greed, a dynamic, powerful, exhilarating dance piece accompanied by a stimulating and infectious soundtrack.

First performed to great acclaim in 2013, Greed is Bawren Tavaziva’s unique take on The Seven Deadly Sins and deals with the interplay of money, power, and religion between African and Western cultures.

Performed by a cast of five stellar dancers, this challenging, fast-paced, contemporary production will excite and enthuse new audiences.

Cast

Nana-Yaa Appiah

GREED 2025 DANCER

Based in London, Nana-Yaa was born in Ghana. A graduate of Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary, she started her training in the African dance style of Adowa. Following on to join National Youth Dance Company (NYDC) and Motionhouse Company. She has worked with Damien Jalet, Jamaal Burkmar, Holly Blakey, Justine Doswell and Catherine Young.

Jessica Chambers

BOY'S KHAYA 2023 & GREED 2025 DANCER

Born and raised in Hull, Jessica’s contemporary dance training started at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance CAT scheme, and then she went on to attend Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, gaining a first class BA (Hons). During her time at Trinity Laban she had the opportunity to perform a restaged work by Daniel Squire of Merce Cunningham’s Mini Events. Since graduating, she has been working professionally with Alexander Whitley Dance Company, and Kennedy Muntanga Dance Theatre (KMDT) as a company dancer/ co-choreographer. Jessica joined Tavaziva Dance company for the national tour of BOY’s KHAYA in 2023.

Oraine Frater

GREED 2025 DANCER

Oraine Frater is a talented dancer and teacher who has an open mind to being exposed to different genres of dance. He was one of the Assistant Artistic Directors and a former principal dancer with L’Acadco: A United Caribbean Dance Force where he has performed and toured to several countries including Suriname, United States, Japan, Barbados, Trinidad, Cayman Islands and Anguilla.

He is a certified L’Antech instructor and examiner, and a former resident part time teacher and Assistant Artistic Director of Campion College’s dance society.

Oraine is also a graduate from the University of Technology where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Culinary Arts Management.

Oraine recently finished touring the United Kingdom with the award-winning Broadway production “Disney’s The Lion King: U.K, Ireland & Switzerland Tour”. He has also performed with BOP Jazz Company, Classically British & Co and Edinburgh Multicultural Festival.

Carlos Filipe Oliveira

GREED 2025 DANCER

Carlos Filipe Oliveira is a contemporary dance artist originally from Portugal.

Carlos began his dance training at Balleteatro Professional School in Oporto before moving to the UK to further his studies at the Northern Ballet School. He graduated with a National Diploma in Professional Dance, validated by Trinity College London at NVQ Level 6. He later earned a Master’s degree in Dance: Performance and Professional Practices from the University of Salford.

As a freelance contemporary dancer, choreographer, and facilitator, Carlos has danced and collaborated with companies such as Balleteatro, That Ribeiro Company, Joss Arnott Dance, ATMA Dance, Company Chameleon and Coalesce Dance Theatre. His work is deeply influenced by themes that resonate personally, particularly those connected to the LGBTQIA+ community.

Yanki Yau

GREED 2025 DANCER

Born and raised in Hong Kong, Yanki has a background in Latin dance, rhythmic gymnastics, Chinese traditional dance and other commercial styles.

Yanki later moved to the UK and began her training at London Contemporary Dance School. She has since worked with various choreographers for theatre and outdoor performances across the UK and internationally. Yanki has just recently performed with ‘The Bowie Show’ on the West End. Through freelancing, she has also been featured in commercial works such as films, music videos and fashion events. Yanki is trained and interested in a wide range of movement styles, from dance to martial arts, which she believes each brings out a different side of her. She is excited to be joining Tavaziva’s GREED tour and to further develop her artistic voice.
