Tavaziva’s Black Dance Archive Learning Resource

Packed with information, film clips and teaching samples, this 20-page pack documents Bawren Tavaziva’s creative journey as a youngster in Zimbabwe to forming his own company in London. . This pack  enables teachers, dance artists and students to research Tavaziva and test drive practical workshop ideas. Interviews with Bawren and workshop resources uncover how he creates a powerful choreographic language.

The Black Dances Archive Project is led by State of Emergency and funded by the Heritage Lottery fund. It focuses on the heritage of dance of the African Diaspora in the UK from 1950 to the present. It crosses arts and heritage and seeks to collect, preserve and make accessible collections from eminent individuals and organisations from the UK Black dance sector.
